Darkinia

August 15, 2011kinshuksunil

Darkinia is a casual stratgey game made during the Indie GameDev India's BYOG 11.08 48hr game development-athon.
Themes: War, History, Darkness.

Story: It was 300 years ago that the rift between the neighbourly states of Normaland and Darkinia came into being. The issue was the marriage of the Regent Prince of Darkinia to the Princess of Normaland. Since then the Darkies have coveted the land of the Normalovs as their own and have waged wars of accession, until 60 years ago. King Lamron of Normaland beat Kaleb the Dark in a 12 year war between the two nations and peace had reined. Until now.

You are the king of Darkinia now, and you want to fulfill the dreams of your ancestors. Send your mighty armies to seize power in Normaland. Fight for Power. Spread the Darkness.

The game is presented to you as a top-down chess board, but that is where the similarity with chess ends. Your units and the units of your enemies are arranged at the opposite ends of the battlefield. Use the skills of your army and wisely utilise the battleground to win over your opponent.

Notes:

The game is not complete and the AI is pretty broken, yet the game can be played as a two player game.

Two player?

Is that a two player game? War Strategy games are always exciting!

we really couldnt integrate

we really couldnt integrate the AI within 48 hours, so for now it is indeed two player, which was totally unintentional XD
